The Area

Sapareva Banya is 75 km from Sofia, at the foot of the Rila mountains. It is home to the only geyser fountain in the Balkans, erupting at 103 °C — the hottest in continental Europe. The Seven Rila Lakes and the Skakavitsa nature reserve are close by.
